1. Visit a Museum
Visiting museums in Barcelona can be free on certain days of the month. Plan your trip with this in mind. When you get to Barcelona plan to visit a variety of locations including Picasso Museum free on the 1st Sunday of the month. And Barcelona City History Museum which is free every Sunday.
2. See Art on the Beach
Walking along Barceloneta beach, it’s hard not to notice the beautiful and unique sculptures that line the seaside. This is a free activity you can do any season or anytime of the year.
3. Explore City Markets
Beyond Boqueria Market, there are a variety of markets to explore around Barcelona. From meats and cheeses to fruits and vegetables, there’s so much to see and do. Start by visiting Mercat De Sant Antoni and Mercat de Sarrià. The best part is, it will cost you nothing to explore these city markets.
4. See a Light Show at the Magic Fountain
If you decide to walk around Placa de d’Espanya at night, don’t miss the opportunity to see a light show at the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. Check out the light show schedule here for more show-times.
5. Get Views of the City from Above
If you want great views of Barcelona from above there are some ideal locations for this and the best part is, it’s free. From Parc Guell to Collserola Park, you get views of the city from Gracia to Barceloneta beach.
6. Walk Amongst Ancient and Modern Architecture
Walk around the city of Barcelona and you will find yourself in between the past, and the future. Head to Placa Nova and Pati Llimona for a view of the Roman city wall. Get beautiful views of Casa Batllo’s exterior near Passeig de Gracia, for some of Gaudi’s eclectic work.
7. Go on a Free Walking Tour
A great place to start when visiting a new city has to be going on a free walking tour. If you’re interested in a walking tour check out Free Tours by Foot.
