The Russian Tea Room
If your ever in New York City and want to splurge on some fine dining, the Russian Tea Room is where it’s at. If you know me personally or your one of my subscribers, you know I love my afternoon tea. The sandwiches, the pastries and most importantly the scones. I’ve done reviews on several tea rooms that I’ve been to and I’ll certainly do a review for the Russian tea room as well. But this amazing restaurant has much more to offer including traditional Russian fare like Beef Stroganoff, Bellini’s and caviar. Its a favorite of celebrities, and reservations are a must. There is no real dress code for breakfast or lunch, but most dress up for dinner time.
The Russian Tea Room is fine dining at it’s best, again I only recommend this place if your down to splurge. The food was great and so was the service, but the atmosphere was what did “it” for me. The red leather seating areas and white cloth napkins gives you a feeling of opulent Russian dining. There were lovely Faberge eggs everywhere, like the beautiful ones pictured below upon entering the restaurant. The downstairs area has bathrooms and a coat check area. The upstairs dining area, used for dinner time has been used for various celebrity events (check out their Instagram for pics). Come to find out my favorite designer (Kate Spade) staged some photos there recently with Ana Kendrick from Pitch Perfect. Located near Carnegie Hall and Central Park, it;s the perfect place for a date night in the city.
The afternoon tea time goes from 2:00pm-4:30pm comes in two courses. You have the usual sandwiches, but they also serve you Bellini’s and Caviar. If your feeling extra fancy you can order the royal afternoon tea which also comes with champagne. I have to say I enjoyed myself beyond what I expected. I will certainly head back there soon, this time for dinner. It’s alright to treat yourself or the person you love every now and again.
