I’ve been blogging about food and travel for the past two years. It feels like longer at times because of the amount of things I’ve accomplished. But with every up and down, I remember why I enjoy blogging and the experiences that help me to create this content to share with the world.
Where I’ve Been:
Over the past year I’ve been fortunate to visit some of the most amazing places in the world. I experienced most of this with my children, making connections with them none of us will ever forget. I’ve experienced solo travel in Iceland. Wondering around waterfalls and glaciers. I stayed in a hostel for the first, which I actually recommend everyone try at least once. I traveled to Quebec City with my children in winter. This was a great experience for them, they were able to do things like learn about early Canadian history and even visit Santa’s store. One of out best experiences together as a family came in the form of our trip to Italy. With all the wonderful sights we saw the best thing about this trip for me was enjoying an experience out in the Tuscan country-side with my children making pizza and gelato together.
Why I Do This:
Iceland was one of my best travel experiences. I met new people and even made a friend in the U.K. that I still talk with almost everyday. Canada brought me closer to my children, but also helped them to learn more about me. Italy took us to the other side of the world, trying new foods and experiencing things we never do at home, like taking public transportation, EVERYWHERE!
That is the point of travel isn’t, to open us up to the world. Giving us no choice but to meet strangers, try foods we’ve never dreamed of and remember how short and precious life is. I would never say to anyone that blogging has been easy for me. But what I can say is, life is sweet right now. And every travel experience good or bad will be shared because I know how much these experiences help others. I’ve also come to see blogging as a way to document my journey of learning about the world and myself in the process.
What I’ve Learned So Far:
Sometimes when we have things we’re passionate about, they become all we think about and all we want to do. But with a full-time job, I don’t have that luxury. What I do have is time and a lot of it at specific times during the year. So instead of getting hung up on not coming my blog posts on schedule, I’ve decoded to blog as much as I can when I have time off and schedule my posts to go public during the semester. Now the stress and anxiety that can come with wanting to get things right has gone out the window for me. I’ve learned to just let go……
