Blog Building and Social Media:
Want to increase your blog growth with social media? Here are 5 easy ways you can master social media your first month blogging.
1. Join Facebook Groups
Joining a Facebook group seems like a given if you plan on starting a blog, but most people don’t realize how important it is to increasing growth. Completing at least 10 threads a day from your Facebook groups could really increase your traffic. It gets people to your site, but it also gets your content shared on other social media platforms. Here are two great groups that I’ve found works well for new bloggers on Facebook: Female Travel Bloggers and Bridging Blogs Network
2. Daily Social Media Engagement
Participating in daily in social media groups on Facebook and Twitter can help to increase social media engagement through shares, re-posts and re-tweets. It’s important to reciprocate when participating in group threads. It shows you’re serious about your blog. But it also shows that you value the content of others in your niche as well. With that said remember, you can always expand beyond your niche and post in groups that focus on general blog building.
3. Participate in Instagram Pods
I’ve learned that Instagram runs on a funky algorithm that rewards those with the most engagement. Want to know more, let me explain an “Instagram Pod” to you. This private group of 10-15 Instagram accounts, usually bloggers or businesses share a similar niche and audience. The purpose of these groups would be to increase engagement and get more followers. The Instagram pods communicate through Instagram Direct Messages. When someone in the pod publishes a new post it’s shared in the group message thread. Members of the group will then like the post and leave a comment. Participating in these pods will increase engagement from other accounts who already follow you.
4. Blogging and Posting Quality Content and Photos
It’s important to take quality photos and post them to your social media accounts with a story attached. You can also use social media as a way to promote your latest blog post. With Instagram, I’ve learned to follow a theme and focus on my niche of food and travel when posting photos. It’s best to do what works best for you. I’ve heard advice on posting on Instagram several times a day. After trying this when I first signed up I realized this wasn’t something that worked successfully for me. The best thing to do is trial and error, this helps you to see the best ways to increase your followers engagement.
5. Be Active on Pinterest
The best thing that has happened to my blog has been Pinterest. Being active on this social media platform has caused a significant increase in my page views, with one of my posts being shared over 1000 times. If decide handling several social media accounts is not for you in the beginning. I would suggest you master Pinterest first as it will be the number platform to drive traffic to your site.

I love these suggestions! I would love to know a list of helpful pods to join if you happen to write a post in the future about that! Love your site!
These are great tips! As a relatively new blogger, I’m absorbing all the knowledge I can. Instagram pods have been my favorite thing!

Thanks for these tips
I never really understood how an Instagram pod worked and I just did thanks to this post
Great post K.J, I recently joined some Facebook groups and it’s great! I do however have to disagree with Instagram pods ON instagram. I think having a pod, like on Facebook, is better because Instagram is cracking down on pods as they view it as “spam”. I’ve seen some people have their accounts taken down because of it.

Hi Kimberly. Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t aware of that. I haven’t been using pods a long time. They tend to be time consuming.
I’ve never even heard of pods. I’m a newbie, but this is a very informative post!
Great tips!
