Are You Interested in Teaching Abroad or Online?
After spending a year working on my TEFL certificate, I’m more interested than ever to teach abroad and online. If this is the route you’re interested in, the possibilities are endless. From teaching in Europe and South America to teaching in Asia. Getting TEFL certified online can be cost effective and flexible. Full disclosure I have a M.Ed. and years of teaching experience, making my background even more competitive for employment. But this doesn’t mean TEFL certification isn’t for you. Even if you don’t hold a degree, you can still obtain a TEFL certificate.
Why an Online TEFL Might be for You:
An online TEFL could be worth it if you’re working fulltime or have family obligations that prevent you from taking classes in person at a language school or university. Even if you’ve already completed your TEFL certificate, there are online schools that offer online professional development or micro-certifications.
Where to Get TEFL Certified Online:
I got TEFL certified with Bridge. It was a great program that included readings, videos, discussion boards and lesson plans. The practicum section of the certification required video submissions of lesson plans completed with students. If you don’t have a student available you can use a reliable family member. Bridge isn’t the only program around, there are a number of other organizations and schools out there, the important thing is to do your research to find a reputable, accredited program.
Making Certification Work for You:
Making TEFL certification work for you is essential to saving additional income to relocate before you even go abroad. Teaching online is also a great way to get familiar with teaching English as a Foreign Language. If you’re looking for more reasons to teach abroad click here.
