Why I Choose to Wear Cashmere:
I love wearing cashmere. I know it might not be the right choice for everyone, but I’m a believer in quality over quantity. As a person who seeks to create a closet of sustainable fashion items, cashmere is the staple piece that I could add to any outfit and make it casual or elegant. I love to wear cashmere all year around. Whether it’s summer time over my shoulders or in winter tucked into jeans underneath a wool coat, my style is simple and elegant, just the way I like it.
Care Tips:
When caring for cashmere it’s important to be mindful of how you wash your items, dry them and even fold them. For me thelaundress.com was the ideal company to use when it came to caring for my clothes. I use their cashmere shampoo regularly as it helps to keep my sweaters fresh and clean. I never wash my sweaters in a machine. They are washed by hand and hung out to dry. The sweaters are never hung up, but folded and put away in a plastic bin to keep them safe from moths and dust.
Style Tips:
Styling cashmere depends on each persons personal style in all honesty. In my mind styling cashmere begins with where you purchase the items. I either purchase my sweaters pre-loved on Ebay or at onequince. My goal once I started shopping sustainable was to find colors that worked for me. It was also important to get a few pieces that could help me build several outfits and care for them properly in order to not continue the cycle of spending. When styling cashmere it’s important to put together items that compliment each other, including silk and cashmere. Many of my outfits that start with cashmere sweaters work together because they can include trousers, jeans, silk skirts, boots, heels and trench coats. It’s important to make your style your own.
