Getting to Bath, England:

Getting to Bath can vary depending on the type of transportation you take to get there. On our trip to England we chose not to rent a car, so getting to Bath required taking public transportation. Getting on the Great Western Railway at Paddington station. Keep in mind the price of a single one way ticket will vary based on the time of day you leave London. Early morning tickets will run between 50 and 55 pounds. Tickets for trips later in the day will range from 30 to 37 pounds. Tickets can be purchased online or at Paddington station. The train ride was comfortable and fast, lasting no more than 1 hour and a half.

Getting Around the City of Bath:

As the train station is centrally located in downtown Bath, there is access to the local buses. Keep in mind Bath is a small city, and it can be easy to get around by walking. During our day trip there was so much to see including churches, gardens, restaurants and shops and many Georgian era buildings including the Royal Crescent. Bath is usually busy in the summer months, as a World Heritage site the city sees many tourists each year. We went during an ideal time of year, which was March. It’s always great to meet new people when you travel, but coming from a crowded London, it was great to take a day trip with minimal amounts of people walking around.

Afternoon Tea in Bath:

I can’t think of a more cozy place to have afternoon tea in England on a rainy day than Bath. I enjoyed my own experience there and for more information on afternoon tea in England click Here! There are many places to have afternoon tea in Bath, currently I can only recommend the Regency tea room at the Jane Austen Centre. Thinking about my experience in Bath, I can’t wait to return in order to add more locations to my list of favorites.

Visiting The Jane Austen Centre:

Looking for some amazing things to do, check out the Jane Austen Centre located only a few minutes walk from the central downtown area. The center is filled with artifacts from Jane Austen’s life. There are different things to see on each floor about her family and her literary works. If you’re a fan of Mansfield Park or Emma this is a great place to live out some of your dreams by dressing up as a character in a period drama. The center is also known for the lovely Regency tea room pictured above.
