Art History in Florence:
The Medici family have been patrons of the arts in Florence for many years. Uffizi gallery was built as the families “offices”. The gallery was built between 1560 and 1580. Uffizi is home to a wealth of marble sculptures, paintings and drawings from world famous artists. The gallery which was once the Medici family offices also has a large collection of the families own paintings and personal items.
Remember to Look Up!
Uffizi Views:
The Uffizi gallery is located in a great part of Florence. Walking through the halls of the art gallery, remember to look out the window at some of the most beautiful sites Florence has to offer. Easy to spot from around the gallery is City Hall, Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo.
A Leonardo Da Vinci Classic:
This beautiful piece by Leonardo Da Vinci is known as the Annunciation. It was completed in 1472 and is a oil and tempera panel. This was definitely one of my favorite paintings at the Uffizi. Do not leave the museum without taking a look at this painting.
