New York: The City that Never Sleeps
We all know New York City as the city that never sleeps, rain or shine, winter or spring, things are always on the move. I remember being stuck in Connecticut during a snow storm a few years back, missing the Broadway show Mama Mia because all the highways had been closed down. New York on the other hand never shuts down, the show went on, even fashion week continued without a hitch. Everyone in New York has the keep it moving attitude I love, which is why the city rarely ever shuts down. Heading into New York during autumn is always exciting, there’s so much to do and see. The weather can be mild one moment and cold the next so dressing appropriately is important. Remember to wear comfortable shoes. High heels are cute, but when your heading through the concrete jungle on a busy day, sneakers, boots and wedges always work best. A casual, classic poncho or cape works for me, but you can also wear a nice utility jacket to stay casual, comfortable and warm. There’s so much to eat and so much to do in NYC, its impossible to get it all done in one day.
Lower Manhattan, Soho, Harlem and the Upper East Side has everything for everyone. The shops, restaurants, museums and architecture will blow your mind. There’s so many unique experiences that occur when your in the city. Walking down the streets of NYC you see musicians on the corner and people dressed in costumes. You see horse-drawn carriages with couples enjoying romantic rides through the city.
Where to eat: Ladurée Soho and Tea & Sympathy
There’s so much to do in this bustling city come fall, with so much to do including the NYC Marathon, it’s easy to work up an appetite. There’s so much to eat and so little time. It’s important to make reservations, unless you really don’t mind the wait. NYC is the type of place that caters to every pallet, whether your interested in French, Thai, Italian or Indian, there’s something for everyone in the city. For those on a budget street food is your best bet. You can get a plate full of rice, chicken or lamb and salad if you visit street carts like the Halal Guys. If your extra low budget, a hot dog and a warm pretzel could also do the trick. For those of you looking for some fancy dining in the city, Ladurée is the best place to get some quality French dining with champagne, dessert and a lovely entree for just under $100 per person.
